Show + Sale Technician:
Show + Sale Technician is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of artwork handling, installation and display are carried out in an efficient and professional manner to support the operations of the and Show + Sale annual Winter Market.
Employment Type:
The role is an annual part-time, hourly contract. $20/hr for 300 to 370 hours from August to December.
Contract Length: August 2025 to December 2025.
Location: In-Person at Alberta University of the Arts, Calgary, Alberta
Hourly Pay Range:
The pay rate $20.00 / hr
Reports to
Show + Sale Manager, Show + Sale Assistant, and Programs Director
Core Objectives
· Support Show + Sale inventory management, and the installation, rotation, and de-install of inventory.
· Prepare various spaces for exhibition, including moving and leveling plinths and walls, spackling and painting.
· Use power tools appropriately
· Responsibly handle and move art
· Constructing supports and displays for two- and three-dimensional work.
· Assist with installations and tear downs.
· Help maintain tools, equipment, and storage spaces
Who You Are
We are looking for a current AUArts student or recent alumni for the 2025/26 academic year with an interest in developing technical skills. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, with the ability to work alone and as part of a team, have some experience in a gallery or technician setting, and possess a passion for sharing knowledge and skills to foster a community of artists and makers.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential
· Full availability for the week of November 9-15, 2025
· Knowledge of technical processes for one or more visual mediums
· Ability to take initiative in coordinating and carrying out assigned projects
· Ability to work equitably with all students and provide support as and when required
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong time management skills.
· Experience in working with tools (hammer, drill, etc.)
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
· Recent Alumni or current student at Alberta University of the Arts
o For current students, though not required - It is recommended that you be enrolled in 3 or fewer classes.
Desirable
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Experience working in a gallery setting in a technician/support role
- Experience in the woodshop and metal shop
- Experience with digital media (projection, audio, etc.)
