Call to Artists: BEING BOLD - Fearless Artistic Expressions 🌟 Are you ready to push boundaries and redefine boldness through your art? FascinAsian Film Festival invites Asian diaspora artists to create immersive, multi-sensory works that explore the essence of Being Bold. This unique exhibition, hosted at the iconic Calgary Central Library, will weave together sight, sound, and scent for a transformative artistic experience.
Your Challenge:
Deconstruct Being Bold through:
• Personal lenses: Share your unique journey and heritage.
• Artistic risk-taking: Challenge norms, take risks, and innovate.
• Challenging inherited narratives: Reimagine the stories passed down through generations
What You'll Create:
● Visual art: An original piece that ts the challenge (new or existing work).
● Sound: An audio track or music that deepens the experience of the visual art (your own or publicly available).
● Smell: A scent (created or purchased) to enhance the experience.
● A 300-word artist statement that ties it all together
What You’ll Receive:
• $500 honorarium + up to $200 for materials/production.
● A platform to showcase your work on the main floor of the Calgary Central Library during the FascinAsian Film Festival (May 1-4, 2025)
Key Dates:
• Call Opens: December 15, 2024
• Submission Deadline: January 28, 2025 (Lunar New Year)
• Selection Deadline: February 19th, 2025
• Exhibition Dates: May 1–4, 2025
Selection Criteria:
We’re seeking fearless creatives of Asian heritage who embody:
• Radical artistic interpretation
• Emotional authenticity
• Technical excellence
